Something like that.

And now that that's taken care of, it's time to install a non-pre-release version of Windows 7.

Also, if anyone's in the market for a good, free anti-virus/spyware/etc with next to zero resource-hogging, Microsoft Security Essentials is pretty darn good.

(I do not work for Microsoft)

Despite never failing to succeed when taking the practice exam, today I became one of the over 50% of people who fail their Class 7 license exam on the first try (on the 2nd-last question).

I am comfortable with this, and am allowed to try again every day until I succeed.

Okay, so, it turns out that driving classes are actual classes, and I won't be having any in-car lessons until (a) the classes are finished and (b) I have my Class 7 (learner's permit for you non-Albertans).

Obvious, with hindsight, but it would have been nice if someone had clarified this beforehand.

I am, however, disappointed that I had to miss this week's episode of Canada's Worst Driver, even if it was, theoretically, to learn how not to be Canada's Worst Driver.

Fortunately, they have this thing, now, where you can watch TV shows on the internet.
Shit is fucking phenomenal. Streaming video with better quality than the last DVD-rip I watched.
And by 'last' I don't mean 'most recent', I mean last because I am so over that shit.

It's all about Blu-Ray rips.

T minus fifteen-ish minutes. I should be getting a call from my instructor any time now.

Fortunately I had the foresight to ask a friend to remind me which pedal is which.

Clutch, brake, gas.

... it is clutch, break, gas, right?

So I dreamed about being a terrible driver and not knowing any of the answers for my test.

I can honestly say I've never had a dream quite that.. specific, before.

Oh well. Lessons start in nine hours.

Honestly, the things some people (as in, me) do to their systems when they're preparing for an upgrade.

Since Omex brought it up, I thought I'd clarify: We do, of course, also have to take a practical road exam in order to be licensed.

My point was, with high school, you need to complete multiple 15-20-page exams, answering in a combination of multiple choice, sentence, paragraph, multi-paragraph, and essay forms, just to prove that you were able to quickly memorize a plethora of meaningless trivia that you were likely to then un-memorize as quickly as possible.

Whereas, in order to be deemed roadworthy, ie: declared legally fit to pilot a four thousand pound high-velocity weapon, you are required to color in 30 small circles using a standard HB Pencil. And you don't even have to get them all right.

Suddenly I find it much easier to understand how we managed to collect five seasons' worth of contestants for Canada's Worst Driver.

Although I'm still perplexed as to how we managed to not get any Calgarians in there, this year.

In unrelated news, the company my mother works for -- Capital Power, formerly a division of Epcor, as part of their health coverage, will fully reimburse employees for buying a copy of Wii Fit (since they consider it akin to a gym membership).

And since I had a Wii, anyways, we now have Wii Fit Plus.

Shit is fucking addictive.
Like, upwards of an hour a day addictive.

I dunno, man.

The latest season of Canada's Worst Driver is certainly entertaining to watch, but it isn't really doing much for my confidence in regards to my upcoming driving lessons next week.

And then came my discovery that, in order to qualify as a legal operator of a flying metal death machine, one only needs to answer 30 multiple-choice questions, and only needs to get 25 of them correct.

That seems barely a step up from India's "Okay, you started the engine, here's your license" policy, as described by Arun in this week's episode.

For reference, I did the practice exam five times (so far). My lowest score was 26/30.

I'm supposed to be studying for my first driving lesson next month, but I'm kind of hung up on the fact that the mass of an object is relative to its velocity.

Meaning that, as an object accelerates, its mass approaches infinity, as does the probability that it will collapse upon itself and create a black hole that would destroy the entire solar system.

I mean, you'd have to be going several thousand kilometers per second, which is a little bit over the speed limit, but still.. can't stop thinking about it.

Windows XP is now almost as old as Windows 3.1 was when Windows XP first came out.

How many people do you think were still using Windows 3.1 when Windows XP was released?

Maurice Sendak tells parents and children to go to hell.

Sounds reasonable to me.

Today, I got to witness someone refer to BioShock as "the greatest single-player RPG since Grandia 2".

...

I don't even know where to begin with that.

I have to admit, Stargate:Universe is a lot more 'prime-time drama' than I was expecting.

Not that there's anything wrong with that, per se.

It kind of reminds me of.. dare I say it?

I don't suppose anyone knows how to make it so that middle-clicking a bookmark in Firefox opens it in a new unfocused tab?
A bookmark in the bookmark toolbar, to be precise.
